Install Gutters & Prevent Water Accumulation

Help the Lopez Grange Address Water Remediation!

The Lopez Island Grange is raising funds to prevent further water accumulation and runoff to protect and preserve our historic 1903 Center School building.

All donations to our project during Give Lopez are tax-deductible due to the generous sponsorship by the Friends of Center School, a 501(c)3.

In 2020, we completed an exterior paint job of the building, and in 2023, we completed heating and cooling upgrades, foundation repair, insulation, and weatherization of the entire building. Our weatherization and insulation project included installing a vapor barrier underneath the building and removing and replacing water-damaged sheetrock and contents from our shed.  

To prevent further water accumulation and runoff around and underneath the building and shed and to protect our exterior paint job, we will:

• Install gutters & downspouts on the building & attached shed - Due to the historic trim detail on our building, a custom cedar box will need to be built so that the gutters will lie plumb on the face of the building.
• Raise the concrete pad above ground level in the attached shed
• Do all needed ditching to carry runoff away from the building
• Install an underfloor sump pump

We hope to raise $10,000 through Give Lopez towards the estimated $14,000 needed to complete our project

We anticipate starting work on our project the summer of 2024 and complete by early fall.
